Did you know that men can get yeast infections too? They can.  Just as with women, men can set the stage for major health problems through poor health and lifestyle.  Then, when a trigger comes along, the entire body can be wracked with infection.

Usually, if you notice a penis yeast infection, the real problem goes much deeper.  Some experts believe that a penile yeast infection is one step toward prostate cancer.  Whether that's true or not, the penis is one of the last parts of your body that will be affected.

Symptoms of Penis Yeast Infection

If the penis itself is infected with Candida overgrowth, here are some of the signs:

  • Dry, cracking skin
  • Skin splits or breaks during erection
  • Your sexual partners tell you they have a vaginal or anal yeast infection
  • Your anus begins to itch

Penis Yeast Infection - The Invisible Time Bomb

One of the biggest troubles with a penis yeast infection is that you often won't notice it for years. The yeast growing on your penis will remain dormant because of the temperature on the outside of your body.

However, if you are sexually active, that activity has two effects on stimulating the yeast growth:

1. The vaginal, oral or anal cavity is a much more suitable place for yeast to run rampant
2. Your urethra becomes exposed, allowing yeast to travel into your urinary tract.

How Do Men Get Yeast Infections?

Unfortunately, one of the biggest causes is beer.  Cheap grain goes into producing beer, and cheap grain tends to contain Candida and its mycotoxin byproducts.

You should read my article about yeast infection causes.  Most yeast infections all come down to a list of similar problems - your good bacteria supply is damaged by some kind of antibiotic effect, whether it's from taking an actual antibiotic, or from drinking beer, or consuming contaminated food or water.  Other times, the yeast is stimulated from eating too much sugar, too much shellfish, or something else that makes your body promote yeast growth.

In short, the causes for male/penis yeast infection are usually chronic, long term causes.  Typical foods, typical healthcare and typical lifestyles all weaken your body and allow a yeast infection to strike at the first trigger.

Common Symptoms of Penis Yeast Infections

Aside from the cracking, painful skin which I mentioned above, I also said that once you notice a problem with your penis, you've probably been hosting a Candida overgrowth for a while.

Here are some of the symptoms which you may have been ignoring for awhile now - all symptoms that a yeast infection was gaining ground in other parts of your body:

  • Mild, but long-term digestive complaints are the major sign with men.
  • Indigestion, bloating, frequent gas, constipation, frequent diarrhea and loose stools.
  • Bad breath.
  • Reduced pleasure during sex - too hot, too sensitive, trouble getting erections, etc.
  • Mood and emotional problems, especially mood swings and sudden anger.
  • Ongoing problems with having low energy and getting fatigued
  • Prostate complaints.
  • Jock itch and athletes foot
  • Generally dry skin that flakes away
  • Trouble with remembering things

Another group of symptoms you should know about, is food cravings.  The yeast colony leeches sugar and starch out of your body, so you will often crave sweets, potato chips, pastas, and so on, to replenish what the yeast is eating.

Treating a Penis Yeast Infection

Just as the symptoms and causes for this kind of yeast infection are all similar to other kinds of Candida infection, so are the cures.  You will need to reduce the risks factors, and you may want to take medication to cure the current infection.
